Rafizi: Madani Economy Framework, National Energy Transition Roadmap to propel country's economy

KUALA LUMPUR: The Madani Economy Framework and National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) to be announced by the government tomorrow (July 27) will explain the direction of Malaysia's economy for this decade

Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli said the two plans aim to attract investors to the country and generate high-value career opportunities, thus increasing the people's income.

According to Rafizi, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to launch the "Madani Economy: Empowering the People" framework at the Securities Commission Malaysia headquarters at 9am tomorrow (July 27) while the Economy Ministry will launch the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) Phase 1 in the afternoon.

Rafizi said the effort to attract investors to Malaysia is not just a mere meeting, rather the government needs to convince investors by answering their questions about the returns and special features of Malaysia as a major investment destination.

"With NETR, we will explain the government's commitment to achieve a big leap in terms of the economy," said Rafizi through a post on his Twitter, @rafiziramli today (July 26).

According to Rafizi, the two plans are a major leap to show and send a signal to the world that Malaysia will be the number one green industry leader in the region.

"We have already obtained an investment of RM25 billion consisting of 10 national level pilot projects which are now beginning to have a good response from investors because they answer investors' questions about a sector that can promise the future of technological content and returns to investors.

Rafizi said Malaysia has quite good potential in the energy transition sector and its geographical location in the middle of the Southeast Asian region puts the country in a very strategic position.

"We are at the forefront of becoming a leader in the renewable energy industry or energy transition.

"According to global investment records, the industry that has received the most investment in the last two years is the renewable energy industry," he said.

He also criticised the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government leadership for not having a big economic plan to attract or convince investors.

"Until today, PN still has no economic plan either for the state or for the country.

PN questions the direction of the economy under the Unity Government - I hope they will listen carefully tomorrow morning and afternoon," he added. – BERNAMA
