Ahmad Yakob finally turns up to cast his vote

TUMPAT: Caretaker Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob finally arrived to cast his vote at the SMK Kampung Laut polling centre here.

The Pasir Pekan candidate arrived at the centre at 3.25pm, accompanied by several bodyguards.

After confirming his name on the list, Ahmad proceeded to the polling area to cast his vote.

"I apologise for keeping the press waiting for me for many hours. I needed to check on my constituents before coming here. It's also crucial for me to ensure my supporters can cast their votes smoothly without any unwanted incident," he said.

In the Pasir Pekan state seat, Ahmad will face a direct contest with PKR candidate Mohamad Zamakh Sari Ibrahim.

The 73-year-old former teacher became the Kelantan Menteri Besar in 2013, succeeding Tan Sri Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

Pasir Pekan is one of the 45 state seats in Kelantan that will be involved in the election today.
