NIBONG TEBAL: Perikatan Nasional's candidate for the Sungai Bakap by-election Abidin Ismail cast his vote at SK Sungai Duri here this morning.
He arrived at the school at 8.15am and finished casting his vote five minutes later.
Abidin, 56, also took the opportunity to meet and inquire about the wellbeing of his mother, Che Refiah Zakaria, 79, who was the earliest senior citizen voter to finish casting her vote at 8am.
Che Rafiah was accompanied by her daughter, Zalina Ismail, 58.
"I usually see my mother everyday, but during this campaign period, I have been quite busy.
"So, I only managed to see her every two to three days. My mother has gout and needs to use a wheelchair," he said when approached by reporters.
The Nibong Tebal Pas deputy chief said it was particularly meaningful that his eldest son, aged 18, also cast his vote for the first time in this by-election.
"My vote is not a secret, all my siblings have voted at the Sungai Duri district voting centre and we pray earnestly to Allah and entrust everything to him," he said.
He is the third child of four siblings.
