GEORGE TOWN: Newly-elected Batu Maung assemblyman Professor Datuk Mohamad Abdul Hamid of PKR was sworn-in as Deputy Chief Minister I while fourth-term Datuk Keramat assemblyman Jagdeep Singh Deo of DAP was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister II today.
They were among 10 state executive council members, including seven new faces, who were sworn-in at Dewan Sri Pinang here.
They took their oaths of office before Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Abdul Fuzi Abdul Razak.
Jagdeep's appointment as Deputy Chief Minister II puts to rest speculation on who would hold the position after it was earlier speculated that newly-elected Prai assemblyman Datuk Seri S. Sundarajoo and Batu Uban assemblyman A. Kumaresan may hold the post.
Rashidi's appointment also put to rest speculation that first-term Bertam assemblyman would be fielded as a state exco earlier.
Chow, who is also Penang DAP chairman, was sworn-in as the state's fifth Chief Minister for the second term at Seri Mutiara, which is the Yang di-Pertua Negeri's residence here, on Sunday.
Pakatan Harapan retained power in Penang with its ally, BN, after they won 29 of the 40 seats contested.
The coalition formed the new state government with a two-third majority.
