Pahang MB: Please stop spreading images and videos of Elmina plane crash

KUANTAN: Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail has appealed to the public to stop spreading images and videos of today's plane crash in Elmina, Shah Alam which killed 10 people including a Pahang state executive council member.

Expressing his sadness over the death of state Local Government, Housing, Environment and Green Technology Committee chairman Datuk Seri Johari Harun, Wan Rosdy has urged all parties not to share the pictures and videos as a sign of respect towards the bereaving families.

"It is with great sadness that I was informed that Johari was one of the 10 victims who died in the crash involving an aircraft near Elmina, Seksyen U16, Shah Alam about 2.45pm today. On behalf of the Pahang government, I express my condolences to the family of the deceased (Johari) and the families of all the other victims.

"Pahang has lost a leader who has been contributing significantly through his services to the people in the state," he said in a Facebook posting.

Meanwhile, Bentong member of parliament, Young Syefura Othman described the aircraft crash as a devastating piece of news which sadly involves her friend, Johari, a first term assemblyman.

"I am saddened with the loss. Just two days ago, the both of us discussed the development in Bentong and Pelangai (Johari's state constituency) which will be executed in the future. Al-Fatihah," she wrote on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Pahang Pas Commissioner Rosli Abdul Jabar described Johari's death as a huge loss as he was among the leaders who displayed strong commitment despite only recently being appointed as a state assemblyman and state executive council member.

"He is a leader who is well-liked by everyone. Pas Pahang conveys its condolences to Johari's family, all Pahang Umno members and the people in Pelangai," he said in a statement.

It was reported earlier that 10 people including Johari and his personal assistant Idris Abdol Talib @ Ramali, 41, perished in the crash. Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said eight people were onboard the aircraft, while the remaining two were the driver of a car and a motorcyclist.
