'Uncle Roger' to open first restaurant in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian comedian Nigel Ng, better known as "Uncle Roger", is set to launch his first restaurant in Malaysia.

He announced this in a video "Uncle Roger Miss Anthony Bourdain" that was posted yesterday.

"If you like food, you have to travel to Uncle Roger's country (Malaysia).

"There are many ingredients here (Malaysia) that you can't get outside of this country.

"Another reason to visit Malaysia is, Uncle Roger is going to open my very first restaurant here," he said in the video.

Ng also mentions his signature dish, Uncle Roger Chili Crab Pasta, available to be purchased online.

Despite humorous warnings about shipping costs, he assures his followers that the dish, resembling instant noodles, has restaurant-quality flavour and is worth the indulgence.

"It may look like instant noodles, but it is not. It is restaurant quality," he said.

In the video, he also fondly recalls the late celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain's visit to Penang showing him eating various types of food.

"I am very sad that I will never get to meet Anthony Bourdain. If we meet, we will really get along because Anthony loves authenticity and humble food, just like me," he said.
