Pahang assembly speaker yet to be informed of Pelangai state seat vacancy

KLANG: Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said he has yet to inform the state legislative assembly speaker on the vacancy involving the Pelangai state seat.

Pelangai state assemblyman Datuk Seri Johari Harun was among the six passengers on board the doomed aircraft, which crashed yesterday near Elmina, Shah Alam, during its approach into Subang Airport from Langkawi.

Also killed in the incident were two crew members of the six-seater Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) and two road users.

"We have yet to inform the Election Commission (EC) and there is no discussion over the matter (the vacancy of Pelangai state seat).

"At the moment, we are still in the body identification process.

"Let us wait for this process to be completed before we proceed to the next course of action," he told reporters after performing Friday prayers at the Masjid Jamek Ar-Rahimiah here today.

Wan Rosdy was asked if he had informed the state speaker on the vacancy of the Pelangai state constituency.

Asked who can fill the state executive councillor's post previously held by the late Johari, Wan Rosdy said the matter had yet to be decided.

"The matter has not been discussed. Let us wait and settle things one by one."

Johari, who was 53, was the state Local Government, Housing, Environment and Green Technology committee chairman.
