Remains of Elmina plane crash victims heading to respective burial grounds

KLANG: The remains of Pahang executive council member and Pelangai State Legislative Assemblyman Datuk Seri Johari Harun and eight others have arrived at the Jamek Ar-Rahimiah Mosque near here 11.43am, for funeral prayers.

All the remains were taken in separate Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) hearses from Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR).

Johari's remains were the first to arrive at 9.45am.

It is understood that the process of managing the remains of the nine victims of the Beechcraft Premier 1 plane crash that crashed in Elmina, Shah Alam, last Thursday will be done in stages.

The funeral prayers will be led by the Grand Imam of Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque (State Mosque), Muhammad Farhan Wijaya.

Johari's body will be buried at Raudhatul Sakinah Cemetery, Batu Caves.

Apart from Johari, the remaining eight remains are of those involved in the Beechcraft plane crash accident are on their way to the burial grounds in their respective hometowns.

Another victim, motorcyclist Muhamad Hafiz Muhamad Salleh was buried yesterday at the Masjid Al-Huda Islamic Cemetery in Kampung Jerong, Sungai Petani, Kedah.

Among those who attended the funeral at the mosque here were Mufti of Selangor Datuk Dr Anhar Opir, Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail; Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan and Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) director, Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad.

As of 12.05pm three hearses, including Johari's has left the Ar-Rahimiah Mosque grounds accompanied by police escorts.

In the incident at 2.51pm on Thursday, 10 were confirmed dead after the plane crashed in Elmina, near here.

The eight who died were passengers and two crew members while the other two were an e-hailing car driver and a p-hailing motorcyclist who were passing through the Guthrie Highway when the plane crashed.

The privately owned Beechcraft plane involved took off from Langkawi to Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (LTSAAS) and was scheduled to arrive at 2.55pm. The plane was four minutes away from landing when it suddenly crashed at 2.51pm.
