Kelantan goes with federal's National Day logo, theme

KOTA BARU: Kelantan will follow in Terengganu's footsteps by using the federal government's National Day logo and theme, and not the one suggested by Perikatan Nasional (PN) Youth.

Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Mohamed Fadzli Hassan said the decision was made at today's state executive council meeting.

However, he said Kelantan would be adding "Membangun Bersama Islam" (Developing with Islam) to the federal government's theme.

"The state government has agreed to use the same logo and theme like the federal government for the National Day celebrations.

"But our theme will be Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan Penuhi Harapan Membangun Bersama Islam (Malaysia Madani: The Commitment of Unity Fulfills Hope Developing With Islam)" he told a press conference here today.

On Kelantan's National Day celebrations, Dr Mohamed Fadzli said it would be held on the night of Aug 30.

"Before this, we used to organise the event in the morning but this year's celebration will be held at night. The grand celebration will be at the Sultan Muhamad IV stadium," he added.

PN Youth leader Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, who is also Pasir Mas member of parliament, recently said that the PN-led Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu might use an alternative National Day theme and logo.

He was reported as saying that the alternative logo would depict the hibiscus, as the national flower, with the colours of the Jalur Gemilang while the theme would be "Teguh Muafakat Malaysia Sejahtera" (Strong Consensus for a Prosperous Malaysia).

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi later responded by calling the suggestion "crazy".

Zahid had said that Ahmad Fadhli did not deserve to be an elected representative with such a "narrow-minded" attitude.
