MANJUNG: Manjung District Police (IPD) is collaborating with West Coast Expressway Sdn Bhd (WCE) to organise a spirited Merdeka Convoy and Jalur Gemilang campaign in conjunction with the 66th anniversary of the nation's independence highlighting unity, safety, and progress.
The convoy has 25 cars and big bikes as a symbolic journey to illustrate IPD Manjung's commitment to celebrating Merdeka Day alongside the local community.
The convoy also pauses briefly at the WCE Perak Regional Office in Ayer Tawar during which they receive updates on WCE management about operations and the most recent advancement in the WCE construction projects.
The key moment of the Merdeka Convoy occurs as esteemed guests and participants unite to hand out Jalur Gemilang flags at the WCE Changkat Chermin Toll Plaza. This gesture indicates their affection for the nation and sparks a sense of independence among those using the highway.
The arrangement of the Merdeka Convoy shows the unity and strong collaboration between IPD Manjung and WCE as they persistently work together to guarantee the safety of road users.
Meanwhile, the average monthly traffic of road users for the Perak segment of WCE are 865,000 but the numbers are expected to rise by the end of the year with the completion of Section 11 from Beruas to Taiping Selatan, Sections 1 & 2 (Banting– SKVE – SAE/KESAS), and Section 6 (Kapar – Assam Jawa).
The complete functionality of the entire WCE route is expected once the final three sections (3, 4 & 7) are concluded by year 2024/25.
WCE is positioned to have a vital impact on driving economic growth along the west coast of Selangor and Perak. The completion will allow trade linkages, enhance tourism, and promote industrial expansion, ultimately bringing advantages to the population of Selangor and Perak.
