PM: Govt always ready to improve Islamic affairs so that it is more inclusive

PUTRAJAYA: The government is committed to ensuring that governance related to Islamic affairs is carried out in the best way as desired by the Conference of Rulers, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said the Unity Government was always ready to improve the Islamic affairs in this country so that it is more inclusive.

"Me and the entire Unity Government machinery, especially the Islamic agencies, uphold and are committed to ensuring that the governance of Islamic affairs is carried out in the best way as desired by the Conference of Rulers.

"I believe with the grace and blessings of the rulers, efforts to strengthen the institution of Islamic affairs management at the federal and state levels can be carried out in an integrated and effective manner," he said in a posting on Facebook.

He said this following the 70th meeting of the National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs Malaysia (MKI) which took place at the Dewan Syarahan dan Muzakarah Islam, Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, Shah Alam.

The meeting was chaired by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

Anwar said the MKI meeting expressed the concern of the Sultan of Selangor towards the management of Islamic affairs in this country.
