Prolintas becomes a pioneer in MACC core functions implementation procedures book

KUALA LUMPUR: Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn. Bhd. (Prolintas) has emerged as a pioneer for the publication of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Core Function Implementation Procedures guidebook designed specifically for the guidance of the Integrity and Governance Unit for Government Interest Companies (GIC).

The launch of the book was officiated by MACC Chief Commissioner, Tan Sri Azam Baki on Integrity Day 2023 organised by Prolintas in collaboration with MACC, on September 4 (Monday).

The initiative is symbolic of the ongoing joint venture mission between Prolintas and the MACC to promote transparency, integrity and effective governance within the scope of GIC.

The latest version of the procedure has been developed by the MACC' Integrity Management Division led by its Director, Datuk Nor Azmi Karim.

Meanwhile, Prolintas has translated the guidebook into English, and sponsored its publication which will be distributed to more than 300 GICs nationwide.

Through the Prolintas initiative, the MACC has offered tax exemption incentives to the company in addition to being the official co-publisher of the guidebook.

In addition to Prolintas, the new guidelines in the book were also developed by Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas), Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Khazanah Nasional Berhad, Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) and UEM Sunrise Berhad.

The book is an important resource for GICs, especially for the Integrity and Governance Unit, in line with recommendations by the Prime Minister's Department.

This book explains specific guidance for the parties involved to strengthen the value of the integrity of their respective organisations in line with MACC's goals.

A knowledge-sharing session and forum focusing on important topics in the field of integrity, best governance, and corporate governance were conducted on Integrity Day 2023, delivered by invited panellists with extensive experience in their field, which included MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention), Datuk Seri Norazlan Mohd Razali.

More than 200 participants consisting of GIC's Integrity and Governance Unit officers from all over the country attended the programme.

Prolintas is committed to continuing to uphold the values of integrity and quality governance in its operation, project management and sustainability mission.

The company's efforts in strengthening anti-corruption prevention, particularly the proactive approach in complying with Section 17A of Corporate Liability, have enabled the level of corruption risk assessed by MACC to drop from high to moderate.

For the record, Prolintas has become the first highway operator in Malaysia to be recognised with a Gold Award in the Integrity, Governance and Anti-Corruption Awards (AIGA) 2022.

Eight subsidiaries under the Prolintas Group of Companies have successfully obtained the ISO 37001:2016 international certification for anti-corruption management systems (ABMS) from assessment bodies accredited by the Malaysian Standards Department, SIRIM QAS and the United Kingdom Accreditation Service since 2020.

The certification entitled Prolintas to be the first highway operator in Malaysia to receive the ABMS certificate obtained through a rigorous and comprehensive assessment of anti-corruption policies and procedures.
