AG's Report: HRD Corp's GIG training cost RM51.69m, with some participants attending up to 16 times [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: The Gerak Insan Gemilang (GIG) training scheme attended by 3,726 participants, some of whom attended up to 16 times, cost the Human Resources Development Corporation (HRD Corp) RM51.69 million.

According to the Auditor General's 2/2024report, 234 applications under the Penjana programme from 2020 to 2023 are questionable due to duplicated names and identification numbers.

HRD Corp also reported outstanding levies totalling RM205.42 million as of Dec 31 last year.

The report noted, "62 levy applications amounting to RM1.68 million were approved after the training dates."

The report further highlighted irregularities in the deposit payment process for the purchase of the Menara Ikhlas property, totalling RM120 million, citing non-compliance with agreement clauses despite the refunded deposit.

"Irregular approvals for equity investment renewals resulted in unrealised losses of RM18.52 million," the report read.

Thus, HRD Corp has been urged to ensure compliance with regulations and government grant guidelines, adhere to investment approvals within Limits of Authority, and enforce contract terms.

"The Human Resources Ministry is also required to take appropriate action against HRD Corp management for identified irregularities, involving relevant enforcement agencies."
