Student who takes care of sick parents receives donation from Yayasan Bank Rakyat

KUALA KRAI: Yayasan Bank Rakyat (YBR) has handed over a RM5,000 donation to a 14-year-old student who is taking care of his sick parents here today.

YBR's general manager Syaiful Rizal Abdul Ghani handed over the donation at the family's home in Kampung Batu Jong.

Receiving the money was Muhammad Adam Aizad Mazlan, the couple's only child.

Syaiful Rizal said they hoped that the donation would ease Aizal's burden in taking care of his parents - Mazlan Latif, 59, and Rahayu Daud, 49.

"The plight suffered by the student in handling his sick parents really touched our hearts as they have no other source of income to support them.

"We hope that with this money, it can help the student and his family," he said after handing over the donation.

Syaiful Rizal said they realised that it was hard for the Form Two student to focus on his studies and at the same time, look after his parents.

"We were informed that his mother now relies on her right eye as she has lost her left one and can not work. With all this burden, we pray for the student to succeed in his studies," he added.

Meanwhile, Rahaya thanked YBR for the donation.

"I really appreciate YBR for their concern for my family. The money can be used to buy my husband's needs such as his special milk and daily necessities," she said.

Also present at the ceremony was YBR's corporate communication department manager Mohamad Ghazali Zainal Abidin.

Rahaya has been suffering from kidney disease, diabetes and high blood pressure since five years ago while Mazlan suffered a stroke in August last year.

Apart from relying on neighbours for their daily needs, the couple also received RM500 monthly from the Welfare Department.
