Sultanah Rogayah Foundation donates nearly RM80k to Indian community in Johor

JOHOR BARU: The Sultanah Rogayah Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to assist the Indian community.

The foundation, inspired by the Sultan of Johor, remains dedicated in uplifting the community's well-being, enhance education, promot entrepreneurship, and foster unity.

Foundation chairman Datuk R. Sugumaran said RM79,645 in aid was donated to 13 beneficiaries, yesterday.

He said in August this year, 17 recipients in four districts in the states received over RM60,000.

"The royal family has always extended a helping hand to the people and their commitment to the welfare of the people is unwavering.

"During the recent Kembara Mahkota Johor, the foundation organised free eye examinations.

"The eye screenings benefited 430 individuals, with 56 of them being diagnosed with conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy," he said.

In June this year, the foundation extended financial support to heart patient Vasanthi Sepiah.

The foundation paid for her implantable cardioverter defibrillator heart device and donated RM20,000 to the 58-year-old housewife.

The Sultanah Rogayah Foundation was established on March 23, 2015, in conjunction with the ruler, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar's coronation.

Sugumaran said the ruler consistently remains close to the hearts of the people, particularly among the Indian community.

The foundation's mission is to assist the Indian community especially in matters related to their welfare, entrepreneurship, and education.
