Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak 2023 to host over 10k participants

KUALA LUMPUR: The Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak, in its 14th edition, is expected to attract over 10,000 participants, including 4,000 students, to take part in various activities at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) today.

Deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, also the event's organising chairman said this exhibition is aimed at educating students to promote prosperity in Sarawak through the development of its entire population.

He added that it is a gathering place to strengthen the unity of Sarawakians from various backgrounds in Peninsular Malaysia,

"This year, we have 61 exhibitors from both the government and private sectors, along with 41 non-governmental organisations from Sarawak based in Peninsular Malaysia.

"The exhibition primarily focuses on government presentations, providing information about the ministries' scope or planning activities, especially at the governmental level, which can benefit the nation.

"Private entities are also showcasing their development plans for Sarawak, detailing their involvement in employment opportunities and specialised programmes offered to our students," he told reporters after visiting the Lan Berambeh 2023 exhibition.

Fadillah also extended a warm welcome to all students and Sarawakians living in the peninsular to visit the exhibition, adding that "Non-Sarawakians are also welcome to explore the history of the development of the Sarawak government."

He encouraged students to play a role in filling up the spaces and opportunities provided by the government today, as the state is shifting towards new technology and skilled labour.

"We are shifting to new technology and skilled labour. Hence, the future of Sarawak will be shaped by the new generations here today," he added.

The Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak is an annual event to gather Sarawakians working and studying in Peninsular Malaysia.

The one-day programme, co-organised by the Kuala Lumpur Sarawakians Association and The Kuala Lumpur Sarawak Foundation, also features a dialogue session with Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at 3pm later today.
