Thousands gather at Dataran Merdeka for 'Freedom for Palestine' rally [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Thousands of people converged at Dataran Merdeka today to express solidarity with Palestinians amidst the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict.

The peaceful rally, themed "Freedom for Palestine," was organised by the non-governmental organisations (NGOs) Viva Palestina Malaysia (VPM) and Humanitarian Care Malaysia (MyCARE).

Bernama, on its Twitter, reported that prominent figures in attendance included Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil, former Permatang Pauh member of parliament Nurul Izzah Anwar, and renowned entrepreneur Khairul Aming.

Supporters from diverse backgrounds, including foreigners, prominently displayed placards with messages such as "Free Palestine," "Stop the Genocide in Gaza," and "We Support Palestine," fervently calling for an end to the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Several videos shared on TikTok showcased a visible police presence overseeing the rally, which is expected to end later this afternoon.
