KUALA LUMPUR: Sungai Besar Umno chief Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos is currently undergoing treatment at the Prince Court Medical Center, here for stage 4 lung cancer.
His son, Amin Daniel Jamal said the disease his father had been battling for the past two years resurfaced recently, despite being on medication.
"This time it seems to have targeted his respiratory organs. Initially, my father sought medical attention at a private healthcare facility due to chest pain and breathing issues, before being told of the recurrence.
"He underwent treatment using medications sourced internationally, but unfortunately, the cancer has returned," he said.
Jamal is currently said to be in a weak physical condition, and has lost a significant amount of weight due to his medical condition.
In September of last year, Jamal was hospitalised after he suddenly collapsed at a UMNO party event, initially believed to be due to food poisoning.
Amin Daniel said his father is currently resting at the private hospital and prefers not to be disturbed until his condition stabilises.
"At this time, we request some space and privacy for my father as he undergoes treatment, considering the mental strain associated with the disease.
We appeal to the public, friends and his acquaintances to keep him in their thoughts and prayers for a swift and complete recovery, soon," said the 22-year-old Amin Daniel.
