Light's out for KL Tower revolving restaurant

KUALA LUMPUR: The famed revolving restaurant in KL Tower had to close its doors following a vacate order issued by the High Court.

It was ordered to do so before Jan 4, 2024, FMT reported.

Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd and its current owner Hydroshoppe Sdn Bhd had sought the order against the restaurant owner, Asian Kitchen (M) Sdn Bhd.

Asian Kitchen chief executive officer Ringo Kaw confirmed the closure.

He said the High Court's bailiffs had gone to the restaurant yesterday morning and ordered them to shut down.

He said they were now in a predicament as they have secured reservations up to next year, given the upcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations.

"So we have no choice but to offer our customers a refund. I feel really helpless.

"We hope the authorities can treat us fairly," he was quoted as saying.

Kaw said before Hydroshoppe took over the management of KL Tower, the previous management had verbally promised them a three-year extension of its tenancy.

The new management allowed them to stay until the end of the year-end.

He said they had taken the matter to court because the takeover of KL Tower by Hydroshoppe is being investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
