KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad has been promoted to the rank of Police Commissioner and appointed as Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department director.
Wan Hassan will be taking office from Datuk Aidi Ismail who will be retiring starting Jan 1, 2024.
Wan Hassan who is also a former Bukit Aman Management Department administrator, served as the Kedah police chief for a year from Jan 2022 to Jan this year.
The handing over ceremony was witnessed by deputy inspector-general of police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.
In the same appointment ceremony, Datuk Mohd Roze Shaari was also appointed as Police Commissioner.
Ayob in his speech has advised Wan Hassan and Roze to execute the responsibility given with integrity, sincerity and honesty.
"Rank comes with responsibility and trust; not for boasting and taking advantage of our position," he said.
He has also delivered his appreciation to Aidi for his service of more than 30 years.
Aidi in his handing over speech hopes for the community at the Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department to give their full support to Wan Hassan.
