KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the unity government must work harder and more diligently in 2024.
In his New Year's message, Anwar said that he found little satisfaction with the achievements in 2023.
"We have achieved some success in a short period, such as a decrease in inflation to 2 per cent and the lowest unemployment rate, with the economy growing and maintaining at 4 per cent.
"However, the true measure is the well-being, welfare and prosperity of the people.
"While the percentages may be low, for those facing hardships in their lives and with the cost of living, it must be promptly addressed," said Anwar.
He said the atmosphere of uncertainty in the past few years was the best guide that the government must work as a continuous team with a strong political foundation.
"This is just the introduction to the long road towards reform, and we should not be too impressed because if we are, we will be complacent.
"We must work harder and more diligently in 2024, and that is our commitment. Happy New Year 2024!" said Anwar.
