JOHOR BARU: The investigation papers regarding Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's statement about the Indian community allegedly being disloyal to the country is expected to be completed within three to four days.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the investigation papers will be referred to the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) once the investigation is completed.

"We have already recorded Dr Mahathir's statement, and the investigation is ongoing.

"The investigation papers may be submitted to the AGC within the next three to four days, after our inquiry is completed," he said.

Dr Mahathir recently said that he is of the view that Malaysian Indians and Chinese are not completely loyal to the country as they still want to identify themselves with their respective countries of origin.

He said this in an interview with a Chennai-based Indian satellite television channel Thanthi TV.

The statement was criticised by several political leaders and activists in Malaysia.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also condemned and characterised Dr Mahathir's statement as irresponsible.
