KUALA LUMPUR: Comedian Ebby Yus is surprised to find out that a fellow comedian has recently been remanded by the police.
"If the person detained is indeed the one I know, it's really surprising because I know him well.
"I knew him from when he first came to the city in 2009 to try his luck as a comedian. As far as I'm concerned, he is a decent chap with the right attitude
"I have no problem with him, and he has always been respectful of his 'seniors' in the industry. In fact, I've never heard of him talking (bad) about others," he said in a Harian Metro report today.
The 59-year-old artiste was surprised that the person had been detained for spreading internal information involving the Shah Alam district police headquarters via the Telegram application.
"It seems to me that there's something not quite right for him to have committed the alleged crime.
"As a public figure, he should have known to be extra mindful when sharing such information. I don't know why he would even do so," he said.
It was reported yesterday that a comedian and his wife have been remanded for two days to assist in investigations related to the spread of internal police information via Telegram.
Harian Metro quoted a source saying that the 38-year-old comedian and his 37-year-old wife were detained at the Section 9 police station, in Shah Alam at 7pm on Monday.
Their mobile phones were also seized to help in the investigation.
