Rafizi says Celcom users will face issues when registering on Padu website

KUALA LUMPUR: Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli said Celcom (CelcomDigi) subscribers may have experienced some initial difficulties while registering for the Central Database Hub (Padu) today.

The newly-introduced initiative is aimed at facilitating the implementation of targeted subsidies, among other things.

However, Rafizi assured that users from other telecommunication networks would not encounter similar problems.

"This issue is currently being addressed by the Padu team and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC)," he said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

The response came amidst complaints that people were experiencing difficulties when they tried to access or update their data on Padu hours after its official launch today.

When responding to the issue, Celcom said it was a momentary lapse and the company has resolved the situation.

"We would like to clarify that the issue was momentary and resolved within an hour post-Padu portal launch.

"Our teams have been monitoring the matter and we are pleased to note that all Celcom and Digi users will not have one-time password (OTP) issues while registering with Padu," it said on its official Facebook.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim officially inaugurated Padu, which is designed to enhance the efficient delivery of targeted subsidies.

Malaysians are encouraged to enroll in the Padu database to authenticate and update their socioeconomic information. Registration for the initiative commenced today and will remain open for an initial three-month period.
