MARA and MCMC in pact to improve internet connectivity at 342 educational institutions nationwide

KUALA LUMPUR: Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) is collaborating with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to improve internet network connectivity across its 342 educational institutions nationwide.

Its chairman, Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said this progressive effort was made at a recent meeting with the MCMC chairman, Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din and Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) chairman, Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.

Asyraf said that the upgrade would be dedicated to 269 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.

This decision comes in response to concerns frequently raised during Asyraf's visits to various MARA educational institutions, where teachers complained about slow and unstable internet connectivity.

"Help us, Dr, the connection here is slow!"

"To get an internet connection, we, the teachers, need to go to the front block." Asyraf cited teachers in a Facebook post today.

He highlighted that the primary objective of this partnership is to pioneer the latest technology for improving internet access, ensuring more effective digital and ICT learning for students and educators.

"The collaboration between MARA and MCMC will benefit TVETMARA students, contributing to the country's digital economy in line with Industry 4.0.

"The initiative would improve students and lecturers' access to online resources and educational materials, enhancing efficiency in both rural and urban areas," he added.
