KUALA LUMPUR: The Social Security Organisation (Socso) is set to establish its third rehabilitation centre in East Coast, with the project expected to commence this year.
Socso group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed said the rehabilitation centre would be built on a plot of land provided by the Sultan of Terengganu Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin.
"We are grateful to His Majesty for generously providing the land for us to establish a rehabilitation centre in Terengganu.
"So, the country will have three rehabilitation centres, with the first one already built in Melaka, the second one currently under construction in Perak, and the next one in Terengganu.
"We also appeal to all contributors to be aware of the services provided by Socso, especially for those who are in recovery processes after being involved in accidents," he said during a corporate visit to Sri Pentas here today.
The purpose of their visit is to strengthen cooperation with the media in conveying information to contributors about the benefits and claims provided.
Also present were Media Prima group chairman, Datuk Syed Hussian Aljunid, Media Prima Omnia chief operating officer Datuk Mohd Efendi Omar and The New Straits Times Press (NSTP) group managing editor Datuk Ahmad Zaini Kamaruzzaman.
Meanwhile, Azman said he is aware that many contributors are eligible for benefits but are not aware of the services provided by Socso.
He added that based on this, Socso has established the Socso Prihatin Squad and other synergistic partners to assist contributors or their next of kin in making any related claims.
"Indirectly, contributors will become aware of their rights under the social security scheme," he said.
