Unity government takes alleged MP bribery claims seriously: Fahmi [NSTTV]

PUTRAJAYA: The unity government takes seriously the allegations that Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders had prepared a sum of RM1 billion for government MPs to withdraw their support for the prime minister.

Its spokesman Fahmi Fadzil said he would shed more light on an issue and pledged to provide clarification after the cabinet meeting tomorrow.

This response came after the Prime Minister's political secretary, Datuk Azman Abidin, called for authorities to investigate claims against a leader from the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition involved in an alleged attempt to bribe influential individuals and MPs to overthrow the unity government.

"I believe the issue is under investigation by the authorities, so I cannot provide many comments.

"I take note of the press conference and the police report filed by the Prime Minister's political secretary, and I view this matter seriously," he said during a press conference here today.

"I need additional information, and, God willing, tomorrow, after my cabinet press conference, I may be able to provide some clarification," he said.
