Car catches fire after crash at Second Penang Bridge

GEORGE TOWN: Three people were injured, and another escaped unhurt in a crash involving two cars at KM5.7 of the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Bridge here at noon today.

The crash resulted in one of the cars catching fire, with damages estimated at 80 per cent.

The Batu Kawan Fire Station was alerted to the incident at 12.08pm.

Operations commander Azmi Tahar said they found two cars involved in a crash when they arrived at the scene.

"There were three people in the first car, two of whom were injured.

"The second car caught fire, but the driver got out. The driver, too, was injured," he said, adding that the injured had been sent to the hospital for treatment.

Azmi said they managed to put out the fire, and the case has been referred to the fire investigation officer for further action.
