KUALA LUMPUR: Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain yesterday continued his surprise visits to the nation's district police headquarters and stations to inspect their daily operations.
This time, the nation's top police officer conducted a surprise check at the Nilai police headquarters command centre (DCC) as a followup to his prior visit to the Kajang DCC on Feb 10.
Using his callsign "Aman Satu", Razarudin again radioed in to the patrolmen across the districts on their whereabouts and movements.
He also extended words of advice and encouragement to the patrolmen on duty.
"To the mobile patrol vehicles and motorcycle patrol units (URB), you are the frontliners of the force.
"You are the ones who are assisting the people, meeting them. Therefore, I call on you to execute your work diligently, take care of your safety and also take care of the government assets that are with you.
"Importantly, you must take care of the people. Remember, if those who are on the ground are good, then it reflects on the force. You are the frontliners," he was heard saying on the police radio.
Razarudin also gave out some pointers for patrol vehicles which are parked at the headquarters.
"(When you park it in reverse) the patrol vehicles in use can just go straight out. No need to reverse anymore," he said.
In his surprise visit, Razarudin also inspected the offices of several departments in the district police headquarters and lock-up facility, meeting the policemen on duty in the process.
On Feb 2, Razarudin had warned police chiefs that he would hold them responsible for any infractions by their subordinates.
This comes after recent disciplinary cases and crimes involving the police have tarnished its reputation among the public, diminishing public confidence.
Razarudin had insisted that these officers, particularly district police chiefs, must step it up when it comes to leading their entire teams under their respective jurisdictions.
He also did not mince his words when he told all supervisors in the police force to create a conducive work environment based on integrity.
