KUALA LUMPUR: Two people were killed while two others were injured in a gas explosion incident at an industrial area in Taman Puchong Utama, this morning.
Preliminary information showed that the incident occurred at around 10.10am.
The identities of the victims have yet to be known but all four were believed to be workers of the premise where the explosion occurred.
A Selangor fire and rescue spokesman said they received a distress call at 10.14am and three teams from Puchong, Subang and Cyberjaya led by PKPgB Muhammad Azizul Hakim Idris scrambled to the scene.
"Based on the initial investigation, the explosion involved Acetylene gas in a facility measuring 30x60 sq ft. Two out of four victims were found dead while those injured were surrendered to the medical team on standby ," he said.
He added that efforts are still ongoing to clear the remaining Acetylene from the premises and secure the place.
