Factory worker killed in 3-vehicle crash

KUALA MUDA: A factory worker, 25, was killed in an accident involving his motorcycle, a car and a lorry at Km91.9 of the northbound lane of the North-South Expressway (Plus) near here today.

In the 10.55am incident, Muhammad Fakrul Alif Abd Rahman, from Pendang, died at the scene.

The accident caused a traffic jam spanning several kilometres.

Kuala Muda district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail said the accident happened after the victim collided with a Perodua Kancil, throwing him onto the road, where he was struck by a lorry.

He said the accident was caused by the victim's negligence, which led to the collision.

"The incident happened when the Perodua Kancil had broken down and stopped in the emergency lane with its hazard lights on.

"The victim, who was travelling in the same direction on his motorcycle, crashed into the back of the stationary Perodua Kancil.

"He was thrown onto the road, where he was struck by a lorry.

He added that the driver of the Perodua Kancil and the lorry driver were unharmed.

The vehicles involved have been seized for investigation.
