TANJONG KARANG: The Member of Parliament for Tanjong Karang says the constituency benefited from a sales programme after giving support to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanapi said previously a lack of funds had left him unable to conduct certain programmes despite winning the constituency in the 15th General Election (GE15).
"I have to admit, after giving support (to Anwar) such programmes could be organised.
"I apologise to the constituents for Tanjong Karang, it's not that I do not want to do any programmes before, but us (opposition MPs) can't do anything," he said in a press conference after attending the 'Jualan Murah Madani' and Mini Health Carnival programme at the Tanjong Karang constituency in Taman Sahabat, here, today.
Also present were the Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and the National Action Council for Cost of Living (Naccol) chairman Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal.
Earlier, Amirudin officiated the programme which was held for the first time in the Tanjong Karang constituency.
Zulkafperi on Jan 24, announced support for Anwar's unity government after realising the need for political stability and the smooth recovery of the country's economy as well as acknowledging the hardship of the people's lives with the current cost of living pressure.
Zulkafperi is the sixth Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) MPto support Anwar after Kuala Kangsar, Jeli, Gua Musang, Bukit Gantang and Labuan.
