15 cases of heat stroke recorded to date

KUALA NERUS: The Health Ministry (MoH) has recorded 15 cases of heat stroke from the first week to the 10th week of this year.

Its Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, said that this involved seven cases each in Perak and Kedah, and one in Sabah.

Out of the total, he said, four cases were heat strokes, and 11 were heat exhaustion, with no reported deaths so far.

"All patients are aged between 17 and 50 years old, and all cases receiving outpatient treatment have recovered except for one case reported on Feb 26.

"The patient is being treated at the male ward of Sultanah Maliha Hospital, Langkawi, Kedah, and his condition is reported to be stable," he said after the opening ceremony of the Terengganu Wellness Hub at the Seberang Takir Health Clinic compound here today.

He also reminded the public to take preventive measures during hot weather, especially during Ramadan.

"High-risk groups such as infants, children, and the elderly need to drink enough water to avoid dehydration.

"In addition, seek medical treatment promptly at the nearest health facility if experiencing symptoms of heat-related illnesses."
