Mohd Azizi denies accusations by Wan Saiful, calls them baseless

KOTA BARU: Gua Musang Member of Parliament Mohd Azizi Abu Naim has described Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan's remarks today as slander aimed at tarnishing his image as a politician.

Following the statement, Mohd Azizi has challenged Wan Saiful to provide evidence for all his allegations.

"I learned about this only after he issued the statement as when he spoke about it, I was outside the Parliament attending a briefing session.

"It really shocked me after hearing all the allegations against me and I would like to stress here that I have never invited or called him asking to meet the Prime Minister.

"But I remembered that I have met him and another man whom l could not recognised at a cafe in Kuala Lumpur this year.

"He told me that he was approached by someone to get his support for Prime Minister and I have showed him the details and the agreement (from my handset) what I will get for supporting the PM.

"I told him I will get the allocation similar like other MPs in the unity government.

"So for me, his statement today are baseless and aimed to slander me. If it true, he can provide the evidence such as voice recording or witnesses to support his claims," he told NST.

Mohd Azizi said he would discuss this issue with the Dewan Rakyat Speaker soon before taking the next course of action against Wan Saiful.

Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful today claimed that he has been lured by another two members of parliament to influence his behaviour, including speeches to be delivered in Parliament.

Speaking in parliament, he said the two MPs were Mohd Azizi and Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanapi (PN-Tanjong Karang) who are Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) members who previously declared support for the administration of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Following this, Wan Saiful called out for the establishment of a Parliament select committee under Standing Order 80A to identify and penalise individuals who have made offers to influence the behaviours of lawmakers in the Dewan Rakyat.

Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Ramli Mohd Nor told Wan Saiful to submit a motion to the speaker's office for further action as it involves serious allegations towards other MPs.

To this, Wan Saiful said he would submit the proposal and hoped that the matter upholds the dignity of the house.
