KUANTAN: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has alluded that there will not be another round of special 'bonus' payment in conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration this year for civil servants.
The Prime Minister said the RM2,000 early incentive payment disbursed by the government recently to civil servants is meant for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
Anwar, who is the Finance Minister, however, hinted that the more benefits including salary increment awaits civil servants once the review on the Public Service Remuneration System Study (SSPA) has been completed.
"The recipients of (the) RM2,000 (early incentive payment) is none other than civil servants.
"And under the new (remuneration) scheme, which will be announced soon, there will be another round of increment (in the salary of civil servants).
"Therefore, this is a very good news for civil servants. The RM2,000 (in early incentive payment previously disbursed by the government) is actually meant for the Hari Raya," he told reporters after a walkabout at the Mahkota Square Ramadan Bazaar here yesterday.
Last week, Bernama reported that the Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) has reiterated its call to the government to consider providing special financial aid to civil servants and government retirees in view of Aidilfitri.
Its president Datuk Dr Adnan Mat said it was hoped that the Prime Minister would continue the tradition of providing this assistance, which has been implemented for the past 10 years.
