KUALA LUMPUR: The Election Commission (EC) will hold a special meeting on April 4 for the Kuala Kubu Baru by-election in Selangor.
Its secretary, Datuk Indera Ikmalrudin Ishak, said they received an official notification from Selangor state legislative assembly speaker Lau Weng San regarding the unexpected vacancy of the N.06 Kuala Kubu Baru state legislative assembly seat following the demise of its incumbent, the late Lee Kee Hiong, on March 21.
"As per Article LXX of the Constitution of the State of Selangor 1959, the unexpected vacancy shall be filled within 60 days from the date of the occurrence of the vacancy and shall be confirmed by the EC," he said in a statement today.
He said the special meeting will be chaired by EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh and the dates, such as nomination and polling days, as well as the necessary preparation, would be discussed.
