KUALA LUMPUR: The Pakatan Harapan leadership will convene tomorrow to decide on a candidate for the Kuala Kubu Baharu state seat by-election in Selangor taking place on May 11.
DAP deputy national chairman, Gobind Singh Deo said the meeting, which will take place in Shah Alam, will see several names submitted for evaluation, including from the women's wings.
"We hope this (decision) will be made in the near future. But for now, it is still in discussion, no decision has been made yet.
"To a question of which party will be contesting, that has been decided upon. It will be DAP," said Gobind, who is also Selangor DAP chairman.
Gobind, who is also Digital Minister, was speaking to the media after attending a 'Program #IkhlasMYNIC Sinari Ramadan, Raikan Syawal' in Damansara, Selangor, where 48 people from 12 underprivileged families were brought Raya shopping.
Last Thursday, the Election Commission had set nomination day and early voting for the by-election on April 27 and May 7, respectively.
The Kuala Kubu Baharu seat fell vacant following the death of its assemblyman Lee Kee Hiong on March 21.
Lee, 58, who had served as Kuala Kubu Baharu assemblyman since 2013, died after a battle with cancer.
The Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election will be the seventh held since the 15th General Election in 2022.
The electoral roll for Kuala Kubu Baharu shows that there are 40,226 voters, with 39,362 being regular voters, 625 police personnel, 238 army personnel, as well as a couple of overseas voters. — BERNAMA
