KUCHING: Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) has been formally recognised as a Patron of the World Energy Council, marking an acknowledgment of Sarawak's advancements in the energy sector, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.
Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg expressed pride in this achievement, noting it as a testament to Sarawak's commitment to renewable energy production.
He highlighted that Sarawak's energy initiatives, especially in hydro and gas, have gained international recognition, setting a new standard in the global energy landscape.
"Our energy strategy, particularly in renewable sources, aligns with the global agenda of combating climate change," he said during a media interaction at the Rona Warni Aidilfitri X-travaganza event in Juma'ani Pavilion.
Abang Johari will further Sarawak's energy dialogue at the Planetary Debate Dialogue in Poland, focusing on the state's role in shaping global energy policies.
He also detailed the collaborative framework within Sarawak's energy sector, where entities like the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation, SEB, and PETROS each play vital roles in the upstream and downstream energy sectors, contributing to a diverse energy mix that includes hydro, methanol, and ammonia production.
