KUALA LUMPUR: Sarawakians must continue to uphold stability and security within the state by steering clear of extremist cultures and ideologies from external sources, said Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
During his Hari Raya address today, the deputy premier emphasised that the harmony and peace prevailing in Sarawak, despite its diverse ethnicities, are invaluable blessings for the state.
"We should be grateful that Sarawak is blessed with harmony and peace despite our diverse religions and ethnicities. Therefore, the people of Sarawak need to continue maintaining any practices and traditions that lead to the harmony of the multicultural society," he stated in a release from the Office of the Deputy Premier of Sarawak today.
He also mentioned that the Eid celebration signifies recognition of patience and obedience in worship throughout the fasting month of Ramadan. "Let us maintain the tradition of visiting and seeking forgiveness to strengthen the bonds among us in the month of Syawal,"
he said.
He also extended well wishes to those traveling back to their hometowns, hoping for a safe journey home to celebrate Eid with their loved ones.
