Scores of passengers stranded in KLIA due to Gunung Ruang eruption [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Scores of passengers were stranded at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 2 today as flights to Sabah and Sarawak were cancelled due to the Gunung Ruang volcanic eruption in Indonesia.

Gunung Ruang, a volcano in North Sulawesi Province, erupted on Tuesday night and continued four times on Wednesday, prompting authorities to hit the highest alert level of four.

Malaysia Airlines cancelled 19 flights, and AirAsia cancelled 16 flights to and from KLIA.

These cancellations mainly impacted routes between Kuala Lumpur and Sabah and Sarawak, causing inconvenience for travellers.

Authorities and airlines are monitoring the situation. Passengers should stay informed about flight statuses and alternative arrangements provided by the airlines.
