KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Bhd (MIDF) confirmed that a cyber security incident had recently occured and it had taken immediate corrective actions to minimise potential impact.
In a statement issued today, MIDF said it takes the matter seriously and continues to uphold the privacy and security of its customers' information.
"We have isolated the incident and taken immediate corrective actions to minimise potential impact, including informing the affected customers.
"Additionally, we have further enhanced our security measures to prevent such occurrences in future," it read.
MIDF said it has also notified the relevant authorities and is working closely with them on this matter.
"Most importantly, there has been no major service disruption as a result of this situation. We remain focused on strengthening our data security framework, policies, systems, and processes."
It advised customers to remain vigilant and to exercise due diligence in safeguarding personal information.
"Please be cautious when approached by unrecognised or unsolicited sources, including phishing communications with suspicious links," it said.
The extent of the cyber security breach or whether it involved customers personal business data or how much of data may have been compromised is yet to be known.
