KUALA LUMPUR: Ten people were believed to have been killed when two Malaysian Armed Forces helicopters collided mid-air at the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) base in Lumut this morning.
Initial unconfirmed reports say that all those on board the two helicopters did not survive.
It is believed that the M503-3 Maritime Operations Helicopter (HOM) had seven crew on board, whilst the other, M502-6, had three.
It is understood that both helicopters were undergoing formation training in conjunction with Navy Day scheduled to take place from May 3-5.
Sources from the RMN Strategic Communication Unit said a media statement would be issued by them shortly. Earlier, a 21-second video went viral on social media showing one helicopter colliding with the rear of another helicopter before both were seen crashing to the ground.
In the same video, helicopter debris can be seen falling onto the ground near the location where hundreds of other navy personnel were conducting marching drills.
