The body of Mohd Shahrizan, 41, who died in the helicopter crash at Lumut Base arrived at his family home in Batu 10 Lekir at 7.40pm.

Family members were given approximately 40 minutes to pay their final respects before the body was taken to Masjid Al-Khairiah Batu 10 Lekir, here for the funeral prayer.

The body was taken to the Islamic Cemetery at Batu 10 Lekir where the burial ceremony was completed around 10pm.

Commander of Lumut Naval Base First Admiral Jamaludin Sairi handed over the Naval Ensign to Mohd Shahrizan's eldest child Nurul Shahfiqah, symbolising the appreciation and sacrifice of the deceased for serving in the navy.

Earlier, Mohd Termizi said Mohd Shahrizan would always be remembered as a son who cared about his family, enjoyed sharing their joys, and made them happy.

Since he lived just a kilometre from the couple, he would frequently drop in to check on them.

"He was always excited to share stories about his career and his team".

He said besides Mohd Shahrizan, his third and sixth sons also served in the army.

"I liked to ask my son, and he said he was very happy with his team, which was described as the best and had no distinction between officers and enlisted personnel.

He told me they had teamwork spirit, and seeing him happy telling stories, I was also happy," he said.
