IPOH: The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, graced the 2024 Perak police contingent's Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration at the Unit 5 Federal Reserve Unit Headquarters, here, tonight.
Sultan Nazrin, accompanied by the Raja Permaisuri of Perak Tuanku Zara Salim, arrived at 8.30pm and were greeted by State Rural Development, Plantation, Agriculture and Food Industry Committee chairman, Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun who represented Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.
Perak state assembly speaker Datuk Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid and state police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri were also present to welcome their royal highnesses.
Also present were the Raja Muda of Perak Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa, Puan Besar of Perak Raja Nazhatul Shima Sultan Idris Shah, Raja DiHilir of Perak Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Sultan Idris Shah and Raja Puan Muda of Perak Tunku Soraya Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah.
Some 3,000 guests, including heads of state and federal departments, as well as state police officers, attended the event.
In his speech, Mohd Yusri expressed condolences to the families of victims of the recent helicopter crash tragedy at the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Base in Lumut.
"May the souls of those who perished in the accident be placed among the martyrs. Our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, and let us together recite Surah Al-Fatihah for these fallen heroes," he said.
Last Tuesday, two helicopters collided during a military parade rehearsal killing all 10 RMN personnel on board.
Meanwhile, at the event, Sultan Nazrin and Tuanku Zara distributed duit raya to the orphaned children of Perak Police and the state police force's personnel.
Before departing at about 10.25pm, Sultan Nazrin visited several food stalls set up by the Perak Contingent headquarters and district police headquarters. -- BERNAMA
