Sanusi expresses gratitude to PM for attending state development briefing

ALOR STAR: Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has extended his appreciation to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for attending the state development briefing session here today.

Sanusi described the briefing, which lasted over an hour, as harmonious and very productive.

"I wish to thank the prime minister for visiting Kedah to attend the state development briefing.

"It is quite harmonious and we have presented our wish list to the Federal Government directly.

"The prime minister responded positively and he immediately approved some of the requests, while the rest he would refer to the related ministries," Sanusi said at a press briefing in Wisma Darul Aman here today.

He added that the state government had presented six key priority projects.

"There are more than a dozen projects that we have listed and we have presented six of them to the prime minister during the briefing. After this, the ICU (Implementation Coordination Unit) and BPEN (State Economic Planning Division) will sit down to coordinate the projects."

Sanusi said Anwar also agreed to provide infrastructure allocation for people's housing schemes to be introduced by the state government.

"Under the project, the state government will offer 1,200 housing lots in every district for poor and needy families. The prime minister has agreed to approve an allocation for the infrastructure."

Sanusi added that during the session, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail also proposed for the squatters issue in Bukit Malut, Langkawi, to be resolved as soon as possible.

"We are ready to assist wherever is necessary since the project is under the National Security Council, which falls under purview of the Home Ministry.

"It is up to the ministry to appoint a contractor to build the housing scheme. The squatters are willing to be relocated, but they are waiting for the project," he said.
