KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan (PH) has never ordered or allowed any campaign staff to use pictures of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia on a four-wheel-drive vehicle during the campaigning for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.
PH campaign director Ng Sze Han said in a statement today that the act of using the pictures of the King was inappropriate and should not have occured.
"As the PH campaign director for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election, I would like to emphasise that our party never ordered or allowed this action by any PH campaign staff.
"The act of using pictures of His Majesty in the campaign is an inappropriate act and should not happen.
"We are aware of the investigation conducted by the police regarding this matter and we are ready to cooperate fully in the investigation," he said.
Two men, including one with a criminal record, were arrested by the police to assist police investigations into the use of the pictures on a four-wheel-drive vehicle during the campaigning for the Kuala Kubu Baharu state seat by-election.
Hulu Selangor district police chief Ahmad Faizal Tahrim, said both suspects, in their 60s, were arrested in an area in Kuala Kubu Baharu on Saturday.
Ahmad Faizal said police also seized the green-coloured vehicle allegedly used by the suspects in the case.
The arrest made following a report lodged by a man at the Kuala Kubu Baharu police station at 6.18pm on May 4 over action by certain quarters disrespecting the King of Malaysia by using his pictures on a vehicle along with flags of Pakatan Harapan (PH)
