Two UiTM students emerge tops in ACCA exams

SHAH ALAM: Two students from the Faculty of Accountancy, University Institut Teknologi Mara (UiTM), have scored top positions globally in The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) examination.

In a statement released by the faculty today, the students were named as Muhammad Fawwaz Mohammad Masrin from UiTM Tapah, Perak, and Nur Ilhan Nurina Mohd Oslan from UiTM Shah Alam.

It said Fawwaz attained first place globally in the Top ACCA FIA Prize for the Management Information (MA1) paper.

Ilhan on the other hand, secured first place in Malaysia and second globally in the Audit and Assurance (AA) paper.

According to the statement, the Faculty of Accountancy said it was taking steps to achieve the government's aspiration to increase the number of professional accounting graduates in the country to 60,000 by 2030.

It said the faculty was expanding opportunities for professional accounting studies for SPM graduates at both Tapah and Dungun branch campuses in Perak and Terengganu, respectively, and not just at Shah Alam.

"The Faculty of Accountancy is always striving to produce 'market-ready' accounting graduates with quality academic programmes recognised by various professional bodies both locally and internationally.

"This includes the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Certified Public Accountants (CPA, Australia) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW)," it said.
