KKB by-election: 50 per cent voter turnout as of 3pm

KUALA KUBU BAHARU: With two hours to go before polling closes, the Election Commission (EC) reports that 50.87 per cent of eligible voters in the Kuala Kubu Baharu state constituency have already voted by 3pm today.

The EC previously stated 39,362 ordinary voters are eligible to vote in today's by-election, which was triggered by the death of three-term incumbent, DAP's Lee Kee Hiong.

Earlier today, the EC lowered its turnout target from 75 per cent to 60 per cent.

Its deputy chairman Professor Azmi Sharom said the new target is 'more realistic' considering the outcome of the state election in Selangor in August last year.
