IPOH: Fourty-one passengers traveling in a bus were injured when the vehicle overturned and landed in a ditch after an accident with a car at Kilometer 265 of the North-South Expressway heading south, here, this morning.
The tour bus was ferrying 41 passengers who were believed to be on their way to attend a religious ceremony.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the department received a report on the incident at 7.28am.
Upon receiving the report, a team of firemen from the Meru Raya Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the location with the assistance of firemen from the Kuala Kangsar station.
In addition to the bus, he said, a car was also involved in the incident, but the driver was not injured.
"Based on initial information, the bus was on its way from Kupang, Kedah to Ipoh carrying passengers to attend a religious ceremony, but was involved in an accident with a car and skidded and overturned into a ditch by the side of the road.
"All the victims sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital," he said in a statement today.
The victims were taken to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here by the emergency medical rescue service in addition to an ambulance from the Health Ministry.
