KOTA BARU: The Phase Two expansion and upgrade of the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport is on track for completion by January next year, said Transport Minister Anthony Loke.
This phase follows the commencement of Phase One operations on May 1.
Loke revealed that the comprehensive airport projects had a combined budget of approximately RM440 million.
"Among the highlights is the construction of a new terminal, which is anticipated to significantly boost passenger capacity to four million annually, a substantial increase from the previous 1.5 million," he said.
During the launch of Phase One, Loke expressed the government's optimism that the airport project would serve as a catalyst for the state's economy.
These developments underline the commitment to enhancing infrastructure and fostering economic growth in the region.
